How much have you spent on clothes in the last 6 months? I hear you saying – is this a trick question? Well … No, it’s not!
If you look like this every Monday morning – can I say it – you more than likely need some HELP.
Here’s the thing – start a log, journal, notes in your phone, it doesn’t matter, in fact there are numerous apps for recording shopping transactions. Be consistent, record everything. Take a tally after 6 months, go back to your wardrobe and have a long, hard look at what you got for your money. Are you scared yet?
Ask yourself these questions:
I’m going to paint a picture for you… You’ve been super busy all day, not eaten, then go shopping at the supermarket. What’s ended up in your cart? I bet it’s all the quick, easy, take away options.
Let’s change the picture… You’re relaxed, eaten, have a list of what you need and now go shopping at the supermarket.
Would there a difference in your purchases? I would believe that is a Yes.
Shopping for clothes is no different: don’t shop when you are starving!
Instead of buying quick and easy options, like my example in shopping for food, let’s be more specific with your whole wardrobe and not just pieces that you think will fill the gaps. Whatever your budget is on clothes, there is always a way to step up to quality purchases.
The First impression we leave with anyone will usually be the one best remembered. How often have you heard ‘when I first meet you…’?
Let me show you how to buy more quality pieces that will make you stand out from the crowd.
1. Make up a Style Vision Board
If you’re up-to-date with Pinterest, create a board around the styles you’re drawn to. Do this over a month or so. Then take a good look at what is staring right back at you. There’ll be a theme or a thread to your selection of clothes.
2. Research online which stores stock your preferred styles.
3. Join Loyalty Programs with all these stores – and more!!!
You’d be surprised at just how many stores offer anywhere from 20% – 50% off throughout any given month, randomly. A word of warning: set up a separate email for this. Seriously, you will be bombarded.
4. Make a list of what you need, not what you want.
Place this list in a super obvious place where you see it each day.
5. SALES – everyone – SALES.
I found a jacket marked down by 75%. It’s original asking price was $ 1,000. I bought 2, of course, along with the 2 skirts to complete each look.
For all the Accountants out there how many looks did I just create?
OMG! How much have YOU spent on clothes in the PAST! And they don’t work. Be more strategic.
Then following these 5 Tips you will save a fortune on your shopping. Or, spend the same as you always have and buy better quality. Me … I’d go for better quality anytime.
When a really, stylish, good, looking woman walks into any room do you see the clothes or do you see the woman? The woman is remembered, not the clothes. It’s the quality of the clothes along with the attitude that commands and drives Style. That is … Elegance, Polish, Grace and Class. Be that woman.
You can be Flirty, you can be Corporate, it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that it all starts with the way you ‘dress’.
